Good Eats

Herd's Burgers

Jacksboro, Texas

In businesss since 1916. Burgers take a few minutes more than DQ but well worth the wait. Get plenty of napkins and don't wear your Sunday clothes!

Black's BBQ

Lockhart, Texas

Just of the toll road around Austin, this place has been around for several generations. Kinda pricey but worth making a "messy fingers" memory!

Van's Burgers

Mathis, Texas

On your way to Corpus, just off l-35, this place is worth a stop. Great service and nice South Texas kinda people!

Waverly's Coffee Shop

downtown Cisco, Texas

A must quick detour when you are heading west on l-20. Great homemade scones by the owner, Sean, himself. Open until 10pm Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights. Closed Sunday 'cause he preaches at the First Christian Church right down the street! Check out the Sunday hours!

Pollo Regio

Locations around Fort Worth and that big city to our east

Julie and I find the food here muy delicioso!. And the free chips & salsa (with your meal) are addicting.

Loco Coyote

Just west of Glen Rose, Texas

Felt like we were in Luckenbach! Great atmosphere: lots of currugated tin, signs, sawdust on the floor, picnic tables, locals hanging out, wood smoke in the air...not to mention the "small" burger and onion rigns that fed both of us!

Ronnie's Burgers

Wichita Falls, Texas

Very possibly one of the top five burgers I have ever had. We devoured two, along with mouth-watering onion rings, while camping at nearby Lake Arrowhead State Park.

Stopped here on the way to the Ozark Mountains. Excellent burgers, fries & sweet tea. We will definitely make this a regular stop when headed this way!

Jobo's Hamburger Grill

Lake Worth, Texas

Excellent burger and killer onion rings! Located in Lake Worth, on 199 just west of Loop 820, in the Lake Worth Towne Crossing Shopping Center close to Target.

Sid's Rainbow Grill

Old downtown Carrollton, Texas

Places like this are a great example of why NOT to to be so busy that you only have time for fast food!

Somers Bay Cafe

Somers, Montana

Another old fashioned, quaint breakfast joint..just a little bit out of my normal commute :-)

Echo Lake Cafe

Bigfork, Montana

Driven by this place several times with the intention of stopping. Finally did...OMGsh!!!! One of my Top 10 breakfasts of all time.

Fried Pie Co. Restaurant

Gainsville, Texas

Just like God's mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23) the home made fried pies are fresh every morning! Closed Sundays for church :-) Located on the southwest corner of the court house square.

Golden Burro Cafe

Leadville, Colorado

Felt like I was on the streets of an 1890 mining town, having a delicious burger in the September mountain sun at 10,152 ft elevation!

Mi Cocinita

Fort Worth, Texas

Adrena and her family serve up some of the best homemade Tex_Mex (REALLY). This place is down the drive way, behind the family home on Bryan Avenue just south of Biddison & west of the South Freeway (I-35W).

Pizza Mark - Cyrilla's Eatery

Moran, Texas

This is the only place to eat in town. Great breakfast and KILLER calzones are served up here!

Hickory Stick BBQ

Everman, Texas

Hickory Stick BBQ opened in 1976 by current owner Mark Jones and his father Johnnie Andrew Jones. It has been a family owned and operated establishment ever since.

Kincaid's Hamburgers

Fort Worth, Texas

The original location, on Camp Bowie, dating back to 1946! Always a good lunch stop especially if you go late and miss the crowd. Even better if you go with a good buddy!

Shipley's Donuts

Arlington, Texas

A must "Saturday morning trip to the Arlington City Dump" stop. Fresh, hot Apple Fritter, cold carton of sweet milk and a cup o' joe to go...doesn't get much better than that!

Norm's News

Kalispell, Montana

I would get in the car and drive across the country for one of their huckleberry malts. Seriously. Click on the photo at left to see...

Paris Coffee Shop

Fort Worth, Texas

This place has been in my life since the mid-70s when I started driving. Best breakfast on MY planet. The bacon, biscuits and gravy are legendary. Corner of Magnolia & Hemphill.

Fuel City Tacos

near downtown Dallas, Texas

OMGsh - these were my first street tacos north of the Rio Grande. They are worth the stop...anytime you are in the sketchy neighborhood. I only go in daylight!

Mary's Cafe

Strawn, Texas

Biggest burger I've seen and eaten. I normally split it with whoever is with me. I've eaten a whole one only once! Click here to see what I'm talking about.

Bluebonnet Cafe

Marble Falls, Texas

Oh my. The sweet rolls are the size of your head! Place is always packed. It seems wrong to drive down 281 and not stop in for something!

Texan Cafe

Hutto, Texas

Incredible plate lunches and then there are the pies...OMGsh, makes you feel like you're doing something wrong!

Juanito's Taqueria

On Hemphill, just north of Seminary Drive in Fort Worth, Texas

The real deal. Authentic Mexican food, as you can tell by the packed crowd. We were the only gringos in the place. It's a great place para practicar su espaƱ ol
